Enhance Your Looks With Our Partial Dentures

Replacing lost teeth is very important. When teeth are lost and not replaced, the teeth surrounding this empty space begin to shift and move. Generally, shifting teeth to fill the empty space is harder and a costlier process. We offer partial dentures in Edmonton that are an ideal option for patients who desire to replace teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons. Such dentures can help you restore the form and function of your jaw. At our office, our main focus is to keep and work with as many of your natural teeth as possible. Our partial denture procedure is:

  • We work with several dentists who can confirm whether the teeth are healthy enough to withstand a partial denture.
  • Using the natural teeth, we can design a metal frame that will be the skeleton of the denture.
  • To design the metal frame, we will carefully examine the shape and size of the teeth.
  • Using the anatomy of the teeth, we can design a partial that fits your mouth very specifically.
  • We work closely with a casting lab to ensure the frame fits healthy and passively.
  • You can count on us to use a high-quality tooth with a very natural look to match the teeth of your mouth.
  • Our team will ensure that the colour of the denture teeth matches with your natural teeth.
  • We use high-impact acrylic to ensure the denture fits accurately and is as strong as possible.

Post-Denture Care

After deciding to get your natural teeth removed, dentures are not the end of the dental care process. You should:

  • Maintain good oral hygiene by visiting your dental professional regularly.
  • Remove and clean your immediate dentures after 24-hour extractions.
  • Avoid swishing or sucking in the first 48 hours after extraction as the blood clotting in the sockets is important for the healing process.
  • Begin rinsing your mouth with a warm salt water solution after 48 hours. Rinsing will promote healing and reduce the likelihood of infection. The salt water solution will have one teaspoon (5ml) of salt and 1 cup of warm water.
  • Let your extraction sites heal sufficiently within one to six weeks to allow placement of your first temporary liner, called a tissue conditioner. Once your mouth heals, the bone under the gum changes very quickly because of which the dentures become loose. A loose denture may cause damage and soreness to the gums and underlying bone.
  • Understand that tissue conditioners are temporary and allow the dentures to fit tightly again, which will continue to promote the healing of the gum and bone.

It is advisable to place a second tissue conditioner for an additional six to eight weeks to allow further healing before the permanent reline. In a few cases, a third and fourth tissue conditioning may be required. After eight to twelve months following extractions, your permanent reline can be done. Due to natural resorption or shrinkage, dentures should be relined within two years. Because of the natural wear and shrinkage of bone, dentures should be replaced after every five years. The time and severity of the healing process may vary from patient to patient, so we do not include tissue conditioner and relines in the price of the dentures.
