Committed to Quality and Service for over 60 Years
If you are in need of mouthguards or anti-snoring mouthpieces, visit Edmonton’s Schaefer Denture Clinic. Any injury to your mouth may result in the bleeding of the gums or fractured teeth which may need immediate medical attention. Mouthguards are devices used to protect your teeth from grinding or clenching. Sports mouthguards are considered as an important device for athletes participating in sports that involve falls, body contact, or flying equipment. Various types of mouthguards available are custom-made, boil and bite, stock mouthguards. Contact us for sports mouthguards and anti-snoring mouthpieces in Edmonton.
When you visit us for sports guards, we take an accurate impression of your teeth. Further, we use these impressions to pour stone models of your teeth. The models are related to each other on a jaw simulator in the same manner as they are related to your mouth. We heat a thick soft plastic and pull it over the upper or lower teeth; the opposing teeth are then lightly marked into the guard so you have a place to bite together. The sports guards are long lasting and should only need to be replaced every few years or if the teeth change or the guard breaks down. We provide sports guards in a variety of colours.
For snore guards, initially we take an accurate impression of your teeth. Later, we use these impressions to pour stone models of your teeth. Then, we find a relaxed place for the jaw to be in; when this jaw relationship is correctly identified the back of the throat relaxes and any snoring stops completely. Further, we heat and pull a soft thick plastic similar to support guards over both the top and bottom teeth. We use the jaw relationship to seal the upper and lower guards together in order to create an open position in which the snore guard will hold your teeth. Such sealed plastic must be worn every night for the guard to function correctly. You may take some time to get used to sleeping with a snore guard.
Anti-Bruxism Night Guards
Initially, we will take an accurate impression of your teeth. Further, we will use these impressions to pour stone models of your teeth. Using your natural bite, we will get you to bite into some registration material that will keep your jaw slightly open. An open bite is much less likely to grind during the night. We will use this bite to set the models on a jaw simulator. Once we have found this position, we will place a dough-like plastic over either the top or bottom teeth and have the opposing teeth bite slightly into the doughy plastic. Later, the plastic is then cured and trimmed so that it is very hard but smooth and tight fitting. A bruxism guard must be replaced every 2-3 years or if the teeth change at all.
Teeth Whitening Trays
For teeth whitening trays, initially we will take an accurate impression of your teeth. Later, we will use these impressions to pour stone models of your teeth. After we have stone models of your teeth, we heat and place a thin but durable plastic over both the upper and lower teeth. You can then take the plastic trays home and use whitening fluid in them whenever desired.
